As you can see on the radar image below, rain covered much of the state this evening, with two notable holes. The first hole was over the Southwestern part of the state away from the coast, and the second hole was over the Connecticut River Valley. Right along the Southwest coast, light drizzle was falling. As the first area of low pressure pulls away, most of the rain associated with that will be in the tapering off stages, from Southwest to Northeast, as the evening wears on. However, a second area of low pressure will track over nearly the same area as the first low. This will bring more rain into the state, again from Southwest to Northeast. This area of steadier rain will develop near the Southwest coast just after midnight, but will take until a few hours later for it to overspread the entire state. Rain from this wave should end around dawn or just a bit after along the Southwest coast, and take a few more hours in the Northeast. After the rain pulls out tomorrow, some afternoon sun will be possible along the Southwest coast, but clouds should linger all day in the Northeast. High temperatures should range from the low 50s where clouds hang on and in higher elevations, to some upper 50s in urban areas that see any sun.
Looking into next week, Monday should be just about a carbon copy of Sunday, with fair skies and high temperatures ranging in the mid to upper 50s. Tuesday should be a little cooler, especially in the Northeast, as something of a back door cold front- that is a front that moves in from the Northeast, rather than the traditional West to Eastward movement- approaches from that direction. This front should also bring a good amount of cloudiness, but it does not look like any rain associated with this front at this time. High temperatures on Tuesday should range from near 50 in the Northeast, to the upper 50s in the Southwest, depending on the timing of the front.
