Today has been a mostly cloudy and breezy day, but temperatures have been seasonable with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s in the area. The theme for the week is that we're active, with multiple snow chances beginning today.
Monday/Tuesday
Tomorrow and Tuesday look relatively quiet. Aside from the chance of light snow tomorrow morning, we should see quiet and seasonable conditions. Things will remain breezy.
This is the period of interest for us during the week. Essentially, we're going to be watching an area of low pressure traverse the country and redevelop off the Mid-Atlantic coast. From there it will travel northeast. It's still too early to provide specifics, but I still think there is a strong signal for a storm during this time period, and colder air looks to be in place, raising the chance for a significant winter weather event across the entire state that begins on Wednesday and may last into early Thursday.
Here, we're going to be watching the track of the mid level and surface lows. If they stay far enough south, we're more likely to get a widespread snow event for the duration of the storm. If it travels closer, like the GFS shows, we are likely to see mixing and/or rain. That's not something we're going to be able to determine yet. Just stay tuned.
After the storm departs, we go quiet again, with temperatures going back to a more seasonable state. By the end of the weekend, we're watching the potential for another storm take shape for early next week...
