Good evening from Southern Connecticut Weather.
I'm back! I've been doing some quick updates on our Facebook and Twitter page, but after a little over two weeks on the road I am back in beautiful Connecticut and ready to forecast again!
Can you believe it's August? The dog days of summer are here, but we've reached a point where we're on the road toward fall. On average our highest daily maximum temperatures occur in mid to late July. Between now and the end of the month, our average high temperature declines gradually and picks up steam in September. Our daylight loss however, is more noticeable, with over two minutes being lost each day.
My longing for fall aside, the week ahead looks hot, with another heat wave on the way. After a wet Saturday, the week ahead looks a but less wet, but we will continue to see chances of showers and thunderstorms.
Monday
Tomorrow looks to be the hottest day of the week. A Heat Advisory has been issued for the entire state, as a combination of heat and some humidity will create heat indices between 95-100. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water if you are spending time outside tomorrow. In terms of rain chances, things look to be quiet as a ridge of high pressure keeps precipitation away.

We could see some showers and thunderstorms later in the afternoon or evening, so we'll watch that in case severe weather potential develops. As you will see below, the latest NAM forecast has the potential for some storms through Tuesday evening.

The middle of the week is a touch uncertain right now. I think there will be a greater chance of showers and/or storms as we see an area of low pressure trying (at least on the guidance) to make a push toward the region and bring a period of rain late Wednesday or early Thursday. Thursday should be a touch less hot than Wednesday.
Friday-Weekend
Toward the end of the week and the weekend, we begin to see a move toward more seasonable conditions, with highs in the lower to mid 80s and more typical shower/storm chances each day. Friday looks dry, Saturday looks like there will be some showers or thunderstorms, and Sunday looks quiet. We will adjust as we get closer to the weekend.

Monday: Sunny and hot. Highs in the low to mid 90s for most with some inland areas potentially reaching the upper 90s.
Tuesday: Partly sunny and hot, with increasing humidity. Highs in the
