Today was our nicest day in months. With sunny skies and temperatures inland that hit 80 in multiple spots, it was our warmest day since the fall! Spring has made an appearance and flexed its muscle. The week ahead looks to be much warmer than average with a few opportunities for rain. Spring fever is in the air.
Thursday
Currently, a ridge of high pressure off the southeast coast has allowed for much warmer than normal temperatures to occur. With a strong southerly flow, temperatures will remain near record territory tomorrow. Thursday brings our first chance of rain in the forecast period however, as a weak area of low pressure rides along a cold front that sweeps through our region.

Tomorrow should be mostly dry, but it will be cloudy and rain showers should move in by later in the afternoon and evening. The majority of the rain looks to fall overnight and could be heavy in stronger showers overnight. Everything should clear by sunrise Friday, and this sets the stage for the weekend.
Friday through Sunday
The weekend looks glorious. High pressure anchors itself near New England, and this results in a warmer than normal weekend with dry conditions. The only fly in the ointment could be breezy conditions at times, but there is nothing really to complain about when we have these kind of conditions this time of year. Temperatures will not be as warm as they were today, but it will be nice!
Monday through Wednesday
By Sunday night, we are watching a cutoff low pressure system meander its way northeast after it spent the better part of this week causing heavy rain and damage in parts of the south. The guidance is a touch divided on how often we deal with rain showers, but the idea is generally agreed upon. By Monday, that broad low brings rain showers into the region, and this lasts on and off until the low can move away from our region.
Interestingly, the euro brings a series of weak lows through our region, which could give us a little higher ceiling for rain potential. Overall, I think this is a wet period, but not overwhelmingly so, and not a period in which we see a retreat of warmer than normal temperatures.

Sunday: Sunny early with increasing clouds and a chance of showers overnight. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Chance of rain 20%.
Monday: Cloudy with occasional rain showers. Highs in the low to mid 50s. Chance of rain 50%.
Tuesday: Cloudy with occasional rain showers. Highs in the low to mid 50s. Chance of rain 40%.
Wednesday: Occasional rain showers early with increasing sun. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Chance of rain 10%.
