Forecasters Discussion for 6/4/2015

A cool and crisp good evening to you from Southern Connecticut Weather!

Someone decided to flip the switch of extremes, as we went from one of the warmest May's on record to one of the coolest starts to June on record, with most of the state running a double digit negative departure from normal over the last four days. Thankfully, for those of you that have outdoor activities planned for the weekend, we look to return back to seasonal norms in time for what looks to be a pleasant weekend as far as the weather goes.

First though, we've got one more cool day to get through tomorrow, when we'll have highs in the upper 60s along with mostly cloudy skies and a chance of some scattered showers, especially in the northern and western portions of the state. No severe thunderstorms, or thunderstorms at all for that matter, are expected tomorrow.

The weather then warms as we move into the weekend, with the highs on Saturday moving back up above normal in the mid to upper 70s(normal is in the low to mid 70s). The warmth will be accompanied by a good dose of sunshine, especially in the afternoon as the system that passes to our north on Friday clears out and sunshine is allowed to come in behind it.

Sunday will be very similar to Saturday, but with the high temperatures knocked down a few degrees, with highs in the low to mid 70s. Looking ahead into next week, above normal temperatures look to carry into the middle of next week, with a shot at some more showers possible on Monday afternoon.

All in all, a fairly quiet forecast period, but quiet isn't always bad! Every forecaster needs a break once in a while ;)

Thanks for reading and enjoy the beautiful weekend! Next update will be Sunday evening. -SA
