After a beautiful weekend, an unsettled week ahead...

Good evening from Southern Connecticut Weather.

It has been a marvelous weekend here in Connecticut. Both the conditions and temperatures were great, with warm and sunny days along with clear and crisp nights. The week ahead, unfortunately, is looking unsettled, as we see multiple waves of unsettled weather along much of the east coast.

It's good to be back after a much needed vacation so let's dive right in!
Picture
GOES-16 from earlier today showing sunny and dry conditions across much of New England.

Monday-Tuesday
The start to the week is unsettled as our first two waves of unsettled weather arrive. Tomorrow doesn't look like a washout during the daylight hours. We should see seasonable temperatures in the 70s, but clouds will increase over the course of the day with rain showers beginning in earnest during the mid-afternoon hours. Rain will be heavy at times during the evening and overnight hours, with a chance of thunderstorms and more rain moving in on Tuesday.

Tuesday looks to be slightly cooler with highs in the lower 70s. Much of the rain will be spotty, particularly in the morning hours, so I do not expect a washout on this day either.

Wednesday-Friday
Wednesday looks like the pick of the work week. High pressure should build in as the unsettled weather departs Tuesday afternoon, and I expect nice conditions throughout the day.

This period of dry weather doesn't last long, as the second round of unsettled weather approaches for Thursday. Once again, rain looks to be heavy at times as an area of low pressure develops and rides the coast. The guidance is a bit split on Friday, and whether we get another wave to bring rain showers. For now, I will introduce rain chances for Friday but no washout is expected.

The Weekend
Once again, in the wake of unsettled weather it looks like we dry out a bit. Just in time for the weekend! Currently it looks like we will see high pressure settle to our south, bringing us seasonable and dry conditions. The only potential fly in the ointment right now is another cold front that may try to push toward the region on Sunday. That could bring showers but I am leaving that out of the forecast right now.

The Dailies
Monday: Starting the day partly cloudy with increasing clouds and rain by afternoon and evening. Rain may be heavy at times with thunderstorms. Highs in the mid to upper 70s. Chance of rain 90%.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with rain showers. Highs in the low 70s. Chance of rain 50%.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with rain. Rain may be heavy at times. Highs in the low 70s. Chance of rain 60%.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with rain showers. Highs in the mid to upper 70s. Chance of rain 40%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Sunday: Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
