Quick Update for 10/7/2016

10/7/2016

Comments

Good afternoon from Southern Connecticut Weather!

While Hurricane Matthew is battering the southeast coastline, here in Connecticut, we are luckily free from its wrath and are gearing up for a quiet holiday weekend. Right now, it feels more like late August than early October, with temps in the low to mid 70s across the state along with near full sunshine!

Saturday

Another warm day is expected, with highs in the mid to upper 60s across the state. We’ll start the day with some sunshine, and then clouds quickly build in as the trough that was originally going to capture Hurricane Matthew moves overhead and brings a cold front across the state. While well defined, the front is relatively moisture-starved, and as such, I don’t expect more than a scattered shower or two across the state as far as precipitation. Best chance for any showers will be towards the evening hours.

Sunday

Cold front sweeps across the area Saturday evening, leading to highs on Sunday being about 10f cooler than Saturday’s highs. Temps will top out in the mid to upper 50s across the state. Some showers are possible from the far outer fringes of Matthew as he begins his U-turn to the south, best chance for those showers will be in the southeast corner of the state. Otherwise, expect mostly cloudy skies, with clearing west to east in the late afternoon.

Monday

Sunshine returns to the area as the front moves out to the east. Chilly temps, with highs in the mid to upper 50s, but with the sunshine, it’ll be a great fall day!

Tuesday-Thursday

Sunny and seasonable, with highs in the mid 60s throughout the week. Another cold shot looks to approach for next weekend, and for those of you who are just as skiing obsessed as I am, there could be a quick snowmaking window if the cold shot stays as modeled throughout the week. Long range, but worth keeping an eye on.

The Dailies
Saturday: A chance of showers, otherwise, mostly cloudy, with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday: A chance of showers, otherwise, mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid to upper 50s. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with highs in the mid to upper 50s.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with highs in the low to mid 60s.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with highs in the mid 60s.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with highs in the mid to upper 60s.

Have a great long weekend and thank you for reading SCW!
