What a weekend so far! Across Connecticut we've seen sunny skies and seasonable temperatures, and that is continuing today and tomorrow! This has been a beautiful stretch of weather. The week ahead is looking nice for the first half, but could become a bit unsettled by the end of the week. Let's dive in.
As stated above, the holiday weekend is looking fantastic. Although there are a few more clouds today, both today and tomorrow are looking wonderful with calm conditions and seasonable temperatures. Highs should be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Nighttime lows look comfortable as well. This is about as good as it gets for a holiday weekend!
The start of the work week looks very nice as well. Temperatures will begin to increase with inland highs in the mid 80s, but we should continue to see mostly sunny conditions. Rain chances are nonexistent on Tuesday, and rain chances are low but increasing late on Wednesday as a weak system approaches from the west. Overall, no complaints to be had in terms of the weather.
The end of the work week is looking unsettled, especially Thursday. As a weak system and front pass through the region, we should see increased clouds and shower chances. Thursday looks like the best day for some rain, but I am not expecting a washout. Friday looks like there could be some shower chances, but as the system departs to the north that might be enough to keep the rain chances low. Temperatures should come down a bit, with highs in the mid to upper 70s on our rainy Thursday and upper 70s to low 80s on Friday.
The weekend looks uncertain right now. First, there may be another front approaching by the weekend, that would make Sunday unsettled. You can see this pretty clearly on the GFS image above. In addition, we may need to watch an area of disturbed weather that is currently one thousand miles off the southeast US coast. The NHC is currently giving that area a 20% chance of developing over the next five days.
There is a weak signal on the guidance that this may develop, but regardless of if it does or not, it is headed west and could bring some moisture to parts of the East Coast. When interacting with a front that could bring some moisture our way by the next weekend. Nothing to be particularly concerned with at the moment, but something we'll be watching for some possible unsettled weather next weekend.
